The Nuclear Information And Resource Service
The Nuclear Information and resource Service (N.I.R.S) is an anti nuclear group that was founded in 1978 to b the information and networking center for citizens and organisations concerned about nuclear power, radioactive waste, radiation and sustainable energy issues.
The organisation also advocates the implementation of safe, sustainable and renewable energy solutions such as energy efficiency, solar power, wind power and plug in hybrids.
Some of the policies endorsed by NIRS include strict controls on nuclear waste disposal, bans on nuclear weapons and new power plants. NIRS is apposed to ineffective nuclear waste reprocessing, unsafe transportation of nuclear waste, and the implementation of large scale nuclear repositories.
This organisation is probably the best suited for my brief. There are a number of reasons for this, but there are 2 main factors that place the NIRS before anyone else that I have researched so far. They are an organisation whos primary concerns are nuclear related but also an organisation that advocate safe, clean and renewable energy. These are the two main focal points of my brief in terms of content.
This organisation and there views will clear up any confusion my brief has made and tie the two ideals of anti nuclear and renewable energy together.
