Brown & Sharpe

Brown & Sharpe are a mutinational corporation focused mainy on metrological tools and technology. During the 19th and 20th centuries, Brown & Sharpe was one of the most well known and influential firms in the machine tool industry.
Its name was so influential during this time period that its name is often synonymous with certain industrial standards that it established. These were:

  • The Amercan wire gauge
  • The Brown & Sharpe taper.
  • The Brown & Sharpe worm threadform.

This the logo for the company Brown & Sharpe. The logo is comprised of both text and image. The text is a fairly plain sans serif font that does not really link to the study metrology in any way.

However the image is something of interest. It appears to read as the word good, and this is formed from a series of circles that have been left as whole or split in two. I think that these circles represent components  on an assembly line that are awating to be modified by the tools made by Brown & Sharpe.

A clever logo that utillises the meaning of its subject to the full. I will be looking to create a logo that has a good a concept as this.
